Do you ever FORGET to respond to emails? If yes, how do you make sure you get back to an email that needs your response?
If you look at the conversation pane, you'll notice a flag like icon. If you click on that icon, that message goes into your to-do list and then at the bottom left pane (where you toggle your calendar), you click on the to-do icon; then the reading pane will only display the email you need to action.
I've been using the trick for a while now. In fact, you can also pin the to-do list on the right hand side to always show. That way you can see your to-do's at a glance.
I use the outlook desktop app, and whenever I need to respond to an email I just mark it as unread and look back through the unread folder at the end of the day. It's not an ideal way of sorting the emails I need to respond to, and sometimes if I don't check through my unread emails I might reply a bit late to an email, but its the most low friction way for me to use this email client. I hope this helps :)
Thanks! I do exactly that - and you are right, perhaps that's the least friction path that exists today. I am in Sales and sometimes I have no time to look at emails for the whole day - and the emails never stop. New day, more emails.
I am starting to build an office plugin that marks if an email looks important (and I haven't responded to it). And then reminds me, until I respond to it (or until I tell the plugin to bugger off) - Do you think that would help your situation?
If a plugin like that existed, as long as the reminders weren't too annoying, I'd definitely use it.
