Any small indie hacker communities around that hang out on Discord, Slack, etc?
I've never really been one for socializing through forums, and the personal brand building that everyone does on Twitter isn't really my thing.
Are there any smaller, organic, somewhat active communities that hang out in Discord, Slack, or something with indie hackers who just hang out and shoot the shit about ideas, what they're working on, or other random topics? It'd be cool to find some friends in this space to talk to and hang out with regularly.

I run Indiependent (https://twitter.com/indiependenthq) on Slack, it has a slight twist to it that people have to participate...or you get kicked.
The result is that the culture there is super helpful and supportive.
I'm brand new to being an indie hacker, but know Rosie and her excellent community work, so joining Indiependent was a no brainer (-:

@mathew_ send me and email, or DM on twitter. I was thinking it might nice to make a little cohort of like 10 people how just have a super small slack group (or whatever tool you prefer) - could even timebox it to 3 months, at which stage it could dissolve if it's not worked for everyone.

It's more of an ecosystem for Micro SaaS builders than just being a community.
Hmm, what's the community like there? I'm not above paying for access to a great community, but I'd imagine something like that is a bit more transactional than I'm looking for.
I cannot recommend the Indiependent community enough. After a very long time, I actually want to spend time hanging out in and contributing to a community.

There definitely are.
To get into the smaller private communities you typically need to know someone already in the community and be invited.
