Any startup-friendly DevOps as a service?
I'm wondering if there are any services that will handle simple dev-ops tasks like server maintenance, support if something fails, setting up the stack, etc with a reasonable monthly price (like around $100/month or lower).
I'm not a dev ops and don't really have the patience and time to learn this, but I need someone to make sure everything is alright when scaling up a few servers if needed or something bad happens like a DDOS, load balancer failing, etc.
Anyone using a service like this?
I provide this type of service. We can provide anything from advice (I'm thinking of doing this, what do you think type questions?) through to basic server setup and maintenance on the cloud of your choice (although I tend to recommend Digital Ocean).
I'd be interested if other folks have this need - right now I don't have 'packages' as such as I engage one to one with each startup on their requirements, but if folks have a common set of needs I could probably build a package around that.

I'm interested in something like this and for sure there are others in my situation. Not big enough to hire a dev op, but enough to need a stable system.
Interesting - I'll have to put some effort in the next few days thinking about packages. I think pricing a basic 'I set up the server, look after it, get woken up if it falls over' type thing should be simple enough. Right now I work around the clients needs pricing in hours of work per month to spend how they wish. Cheers for sharing!
You might want to check out Heroku or AWS's Elastic Beanstalk

You might find some service like that, search in webhostingtalk.com. However, it's usual support for sites running with CPanel or similar. For that kind of money, you will never find a bespoke good service. I suggest you look to host your code on AWS Lambda or Heroku. With Serverless your code can easily scale and it does not need a sysop. Gruntworks are very famous for Devops as service, but they provide you scripts and if they want the work for you it is very expensive.
You're looking for a freelancer. Any site doing this as a service is just paying a freelancer/engineer and taking a cut.
I do these exact tasks for a handful of clients now, all of which I've met in Slack communities. I've never sought out the work, people have often approached me due to answering questions in the public channels.
Most pay me a monthly retainer (between $50 and $150) depending on setup, if there's no work I keep it, if there's work I do X hours free or at a reduced rate. The joy about working with freelancers is you can get a bespoke setup/relationship - which 'aaS' won't necessarily get you.

I am a devops but I charge 100 per hour not per month :-)

To be honest I am contracting in central London, 3 or 6 months contracts. Rates are from 400 to 800, but usually it's 500-600 GBP/day. I am also supporting a rails app, HA configuration, for 300USD per month, it's very little money but it gives very little work.
Yeah DevOps contracting in London is around 400-600 on average from looking, but it means living in London which isn't worth any amount of money. You could commute but then you lose half your life to sitting on trains, and paying £8k a year for the privilege
True. I am in London because when I finish a contract I can find another one and do not move. Plus, it is plenty of meetups and conferences. However, I hope one day I will have my own product or service and work from some Mediterranean sunny place.
Might not be exactly what you're looking for but https://runcloud.io is really good and has great support. I recently switched to them from serverpilot.
I think what you are looking for is more of a platform which makes it super easy. Judging by what you posted seems like AWS and GCP might have 99% of what you need with no coding at all. Probably would need some time investment but it's not too hard and there are a lot of very visual tutorials both written and in video form on how to get these relatively basic things up and running.
Other than that your best bet is probably a consultant or freelancer to take on the occasional job and initial setup.
Depending on your niche there might be more tailored solutions (shameless plug https://www.datagekko.com but I don't think this fits your bill) which do the heavy lifting and you just build on top of it. Ie. hosted databases as a service, Firestore and similar.

I've been building a service that touts "DevOps as a Service" as part of its slogan called Codemason.
It's pretty much targeting people in your exact situation, people that don't have time to waste on servers, builds etc and just want it to work.
The Codemason product is designed to be self service and the focus has been on making it as simple to use as possible.
However, more recently I've also started offering managed services to people who have no interest in dealing with devops stuff at all.
What kind of devops setup do you want (if you know) and what does app look like (rails, laravel, node etc)?

I'm already using Cloud66 and nanobox, but in my case I want some custom setup, like I need to create SSL with let's encrypt for my clients. Those 2 services offer some basic stuff, but for my use case I need to run some scripts, maybe a separate server for SSL etc. Maybe it's not the easiest stuff, there are quite a few tutorials online, but I don't have time to play with those.
