Any students here? What are your thoughts around monetizing notes?

We have something like that in Germany and, judging by the amount of documents they sell, i'd say they're doing pretty well.

Two things that can become difficult:

• pricing the notes so it's a good deal for both parties
• copyright issues with material that might be copyrighted by someone else and illegally sold on the platform

My first concern that jumps out is what is to stop students from posting quiz/homework/test answers and allowing students to buy them?

But aside from that I still don't think it would appeal to me personally. If it's a low level course, general notes found anywhere online should cover it. For example, Algebra 102 is pretty much the same everywhere. So I wouldn't pay for someones notes that are specific to themselves.

But at the higher level, for example US History 750, the material gets so dense you really have to write notes in a way that you can remember, reference and use. If I tried to use someone else notes it wouldn't help me much because what they find important might not apply to me. Or maybe they have different mental models that they are using to construct a mind map of the class.

What I have found the most helpful is a combination of my own notes and crowd sourcing class notes on a google doc. Allows me to write my own notes and compare against others to make sure I didn't forget something.

This is a good idea, pro students can earn much. I guess this idea would work good with Sports domain too. Where pro players give a notes how to about sports.

why would the do this over just using a shared google doc?

Something like CourseHero? That worked well for me, but I feel I paid way too much
