I see some posts about people looking for partners. It would be nice to partner with someone who complements your skills.
For example, I have 10+ years experience in Software Engineering but 0 skills in selling/marketing.
Have some of you successfully partnered
How did you divide the responsibilities?
How about any profits?
Hey there,
New to this site but yes, all of my success has come from finding folks that have strength in the areas I do not.
My primary business now operates with myself as the marketing/business development arm, with a CPA partner and a technical expert partner.
We all pick up the work as it comes, but each of us have our own general "lane" of work
Currently operating successfully with high growth quarterly
@highbaud do they both have ownership of the business?
The CPA seems like a oddly specific person to have aside from the technical expert but makes a lot of sense.
He's got a great mind for the finance piece, overall a great guy to work with as well
Just like in sports. The team that works together are the ones that wins championship.
Partnering with the right person is crucial, it will give the individuals the opportunity to work on their strengths.
Responsibilities and profits should be discussed before the partners starts working together.
Hi there, my name is Robert and I'm a 3x founder with 2 acquisitions. I have many years in marketing and selling. I'm looking for a technical co-founder to start a planet-impact gamified app that helps people reduce personal carbon and save money on “ugly” farm produces. Happy to chat more if you're interested.
@SikiraAmer and EmmeMaker successfully partnered for their SaaS EngagementBuilder.
While Amer is doing a great job on the marketing and sales side, EmmeMaker is a fantastic developer.
I don't know how they found each other.
But I am happy that you ask that question, because some time ago I had the idea to build a "classifieds platform" to connect developers with project and other people with complementary skills.
I've even built an MVP: https://suzi152.softr.app/
But at that time not many people have been interested.
I think that we all have at some point thought that something like this is needed.
One part is the skill matching. I think the bigger issue is getting past the feeling of how do I know this person is good enough to partner with? What if they try to take all the profits after we build it? What if they aren't working as hard as I?
Anyways congrats on finishing the MVP, sorry you couldn't get more interest on it.
Thank you very much for the feedback @moralwil !
I'll probably validate, build and launch something similar anytime in the future.
Because I still believe that there is huge value to such kind of matching - not only for business projects.
We met over Twitter. It was rather simple.
Emme reached out to me asking me for some marketing advice regarding different stuff, but all connected to Engagement Builder. Later, as we worked together he asked me for partnering up, and I said yes, and that's it. 😁
So Emme has been working on EB already before the two of you met?
Yeah, he started working before I joined, but we knew each other. 😁
I'm in the same situation as you so I would be interested too. I'm actively engaged in a quest for a selling/marketing co-founder. Hostea is radically transparent and you can read about the ongoing search in the forum. I'm hopeful it will succeed eventually, but it may take months.
Good luck in that search. It looks like you are building something really interesting.
Did you all build the gitea project too?
