Any tech career switchers want to be a mentor?
Hi All,
70% workforce worldwide is seeking to consistently make a career switch today.
I'm one of career switchers who used to be a Product Marketing Manager (Google, Fortune 500) and now work as a Product Manager. I took a coding bootcamp to learn coding simply to follow my crazy geeky passion in software dev and wanted to try out how it's like to be a software engineer. I ended up getting a few offers but decided to stay in my current job for some personal reason.
So while taking a coding bootcamp, I have noticed that a lot of people dropped out, lost motivation, feel uncertain about the path, realized being a software engineer is not a right path for them etc and that's when they had already made some investment/commitment. What helped me before joining a bootcamp was talking to other software engineers who come from a similar background as they can relate and give realistic advice. For me it was also relatively easier as I was already in tech industry.
After completing my coding bootcamp, some of my friends asked me to give them advice on whether to join the program and thought it would be nice to build a community around Mid-Career Switchers.
I'm looking for 3-4 who are working in Tech come from a irrelevant industry or role willing to give advice. I can give you more details on how this project has been going on and what values you will add and get out of it.
