Any tips for growing our meditation app?

We released our free-forever meditation app, Medito, about a month ago and we've been really happy with how things are going so far. We now have around 10,000 active users.

We gained a lot of users through Product Hunt, Reddit and Hacker News, where we also received some awesome feedback.

Do you have any tips for how we can continue or increase our growth?

Cheers,

Steven

wow, 10k active users is impressive, wellness is a super competitive space. Sold my wellness app business Audiojoy in December so pretty familiar with the space. Not sure if you have a free version of your app or if you require user accounts, but we didn't have user accounts. We added this popup on first open that said "enter your email so we can provide amazing customer support and service". We got about a 70% completion rate with about 60% real email accuracy. We were able to re-market to these users and saw a 10-20% lift in subscriptions every time we did a mailing.

Thanks for your advice! The app is completely free and users don't need to sign up to use it, so we're not actually collecting any email addresses at all. We are going to add the option for people to sign up if they want to though - I agree that could make a difference if we send out regular emails to subscribers.

I'd suggest explaining really clearly why someone should choose you over Headspace or Calm. Those two apps are so popular that I think addressing them would be useful. A quick look through your Play Store page and Product Hunt submission and I'm not sure why you're a better choice (other than being free). What differentiates you? Make that your pitch and make it really simple and clear.

Great advice - we will do that! Thank you!

    1. Build a website that actually highlights your app and your strenghts and most importantly the issue you're solving

    2. Leverage basic marketing tactics to increase adoption
      a) remarketing
      b) referrals
      c) gamification to increase inactive users or prevent churn.

    3. Find out where people with stress hang out - stress comes in different forms, reddit/facebook groups are great starting points

    4. Help people on Quora and plug your app

    5. Get more press coverage / jump on podcasts / write blogs (like lifehacker...forbes...heck even hackernoon) OR publish on medium or similar blog-platforms (bad for seo but brings more eyes onto your product)

    Finally, there are probably a thousand more ideas but my hands are tired now - s o m u c h t y p i n g

That's great. Mental health apps are blowing up right now. I suggest adding in some viral features, such as the ability to add friends and see what they are listening to.

Happy to go more in depth if you wish.

Thanks for the advice! We will look at developing the app so people can add friends, that's a great idea :)

Nice! Look forward to seeing that. Happy to give further advice or UX guidance. Btw we are launching a new podcast. I have a few founders lined up for the initial episodes. Would be such a privilege to have you on as a guest. We just want to talk about your journey in launching Medito.

We teach students how to code, launch and grow. So it would be extremely valuable for them to listen to your knowledge!

        Let me know

It would be great to join your podcast! Medito has 4 founders, I think it would be good if two of us could be involved in the podcast - Mike, the dev, (so he can talk about the coding side of things) and one other of us - if that would be ok?

I sent an email to [email protected] but it bounced back?
