Any tips for hyping up our collab with Patagonia?

Hey y'all! Keeping this a secret for now, but thegoodstartup.com is sharing our interview and article with Patagonia next week! But since we're so small potatoes compared to them right now, I was hoping I could get some advice on hyping The Good Startup's readers up before the article release!

Do you have any ideas on when I should start posting about the interview to my readers or what some cool messages are that I could say? Any marketing advice or support I can get would be INCREDIBLE, thank you!

Hey Le, just discovered your website and what a breath of fresh air. Perhaps something along the lines of 'Just finished interviewing X from Patagonia. Fascinating discussions. Need to edit the blog post now but can't wait to share with you guys'.

On the other hand, you are lucky enough to capture someone's attention, surely serve them what they want - the article. Would it not be better to serve the article up and then create the hype around it once it's available?

To contradict myself, though, if you have a weekly mailing list say, at the end of the list you could use the Patagonia preview as an 'coming next' style feature. So here's this week's article, coming next week an exciting interview with X from Patagonia. Stay tuned.

What I would avoid is releasing lots of tweets or posts generally before it's launched because that feels a little empty like too much noise but certainly some well-meaning preview content could add value.

Have you previewed articles in this way before? How did it go?

Thank you Richard! Yes I plan on releasing the article, perhaps I will send out an email about another new article I released today but use Patagonia in the coming soon section like you suggested. Preview content makes sense for sure, but yes I just don't want to overdo it haha. Thanks for the tips!

You're welcome :-) This approach sounds good. Good balance.

When I was building Sitesauce I tweeted a lot about it... without announcing what it was. I'd tweet about my "secret project" mentioning how much I'd got done that day or how X feature was ready without giving away anything, and that really hyped people.

So, my suggestion would be to announce you have a big interview lined up without announcing who it is, maybe tweet out images of phrases from the interview that don't really give away anything or even record a screencast of you scrolling through the article and then blur it before tweeting it. Get creative!

    Hi Le,

I'd also leverage patagonia's (or your guest's personal network) to build hype/ traffic. Often brands and guests are receptive to this ask!

    Good luck :)
