Any tips on hiring illustrators?
I want to get some illustrations done for my business but all the places that have illustrators (99designs, fiverr) are really bad. Best case the illustrations look "ok" but nothing that stands out or has any degree of originality.
Do you guys have any tips on hiring super high quality illustrators (have practically unlimited budget)?
From 2010 to 2015 I was an indie game developer. I used to hire illustrators all the time. I had the same problem as you, illustrators on freelancer sites weren't good.

It takes some time (and I am not a hiring manager by any means) but I've found some great illustrators by looking through instagram hashtags. You'll definitely need to do some digging but once you find one you like, often times they'll follow other great illustrators for inspo.
