Anybody using Obsidian?
About 3 weeks ago some folks turned me onto Obsidian.md as an alternative to the "popular" Roam Research (which I like in concept but not enough to get past the cultyness from the folks running the show).
I also really like that Obsidian is just markdown files under the hood, which can be saved/stored locally or synced using whatever you use to sync files.
I've been using it for keeping track of my weekly todos and building internal reference documentation. I'm also using it to drop random snippets and notes that don't need to be anywhere in particular yet, but I can "garden" into something more mature later.
It's fast, it's free (with a paid license option that reminds me of SublimeText), and extendable with CSS and a plugin framework. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a native mobile app yet. But since it's just text files, I can use another app to read/update the text files if I want.
Besides, I do mobile note-taking in a totally different way than on desktop, so I don't mind having them be separate.
It's def one of the best new free apps I've used in a while, curious if anybody else has tried it and found fav features/settings/tweaks!
I use obsidian for general note taking and ideation along side imdone.io for kanban. I'm the maker of imdone, so it helps me eat my own dog food. The cool part is while I'm in obsidian, I can add cards to my kanban like this...

From imdone, I can get back to the note in obsidian by using cmd+o or the little link icon on the card.
That way, I can put my ideas into action!
Been using it for a few days as well and got it configured to my liking. I’m very excited about it after checking out a ton of the new tools out there similar to Roam. I’m a fan, and yea, I agree about the need for a mobile version. That said, since it is Markdown, I expect to find a mobile app to handle this at some point, even if it’s not Obsidian itself.
These days I use Notion as a knowledge base.
It's not ideal or perfect, and I give access to it as part of Rosie.land membership. There's quite a lot of things that I've organised, but I want a better way of hosting it publicly and in a community kinda way.
Also, we need a Second Brain group, don't you think? 😊
I tried notion and it didn't stick for me, but I get why people like it!
Obsidian is wonderful! I was using that for a while but then switched over to Foam. I like Foam because it just sits on top of VSCode which means I can leverage the ecosystem and use extensions like Vim!
It’s still early on for Foam but looks promising.

Yes, but they’re not that great unfortunately :( at least in my experience
Never heard about it, but their landing page looks clear/interesting.
