Anyone Building a House That They Would Like to Visit in VR Before It's Done?

A new business of mine is called Anywhere – it's a consulting service to get people touring their unbuilt homes or 3d designs in VR.

https://anywherehomes.webflow.io (still under construction)

We ship you a VR headset (after a deposit), get or build your design files, and then meet up with you at your house in VR. We'll help you get your VR legs if you're new to it, and then make any changes to your home that you'd like to see.

Want to see what different colored walls would look like? This appliance vs. that appliance? With this wall or without? We help you experience the possibilities so that you can make decisions with certainty.

Not a visual person? No problem. You'll experience how things will feel when they're built and be able to make the right choice for you. No more relying on blueprints, plans, or an architect's description of how things will be.

My first client is my dad, who is building a new home himself. He's already seen immediate value and has made significant changes to the plans due to walking through the house in VR.

So my question is whether anyone else here thinks this is a good idea? Or would be interested in this themselves?

Would you use a service like Anywhere?

Good idea. I would definitely like to try this product.

We are building a custom home. The architect has created a plan and exterior fly through render video.
We would like to see the 3D model walk through of the home. Architect is asking for about $3K to create that view. The 3D model is a nice to have for us.

Your product with the VR headset sounds very promising. After reading your FAQ, the pricing is confusing. As a homeowner, how do you determine the value add?
Will the architect give us the raw design files that you need?

Hey there, yeah, sorry about the pricing. It's an experiment to see if we can align incentives better with our clients, but we may have to drop it.

Basically we can't know what your needs are or how much this is worth to you until we get into the design with you and talk things out. After that, you'll understand the value it can bring and we'll understand the scope of your project. Then we can give you a right-sized estimate.

To give you a price estimate now would just be making up a number that would either bind us to a huge loss, or have you paying way too much for what we would give you.

We'll reach out to the architect for you, if you like, and see if they have the files they need. If they don't have what we need, we can give you an estimate for constructing those files that would be less than what they're charging. As long as we have access to the measurements we need to build from.

Was it an example kitchen in VR? Or your actual kitchen with all the correct dimensions?
