Anyone else finding team stand-ups don't work remotely?

Blog post: Stand-up meetings don't work from home. Unless it's someone's turn to speak in a stand-up, they will check out. We moved to text-based updates, and kept the morning video call social. I was wondering if others have had a similar experience?
