Anyone else got rejected by Stripe?

I created a Stripe account for my side project but it didn't pass their verification. The only explanation was that 'the likelihood for future chargebacks exceeded the rate they're able to support my account'.

When asked for more details they just copy-pasted their previous email.

I went through their terms and conditions and my project didn't break any of these.

Anyone else had similar experience? What should I do in this case?

I work at Stripe. I'm sorry for the trouble here. Could you send me an email at [email protected] and I can dig into this more?

Seen something similar, after that, you can't really dispute once they've made the decision, which sucks, thinks that aren't a guarantee to the end-user, like make money online courses or make xxx online or things of that nature, they seem to think there will be chargebacks maybe from experience they've had with others.

Maybe try https://gumroad.com if no other option then maybe Paypal though they are notorious also, if not that then wire transfers, manually invoicing, if it's possible for you with something like https://invoice2go.com, some startups have started that way.

      Just a note on Paypal,
you can also create monthly invocing with your personal paypal account. Every month PayPal will send an invoice to a customer. The customer can pay through PayPal-hosted page.

Interesting, didn't know that, thanks for sharing.

Yeah that sucks. I'd use any other payment solution but I'm using MemberStack for subscriptions which only integrates with Stripe. Now I'll have to look for some other no-code solution for subscriptions.

I came across a blog-post that might help. It discusses how to avoid getting your account rejected by Stripe: https://www.chargestripe.com/how-to-not-get-your-stripe-account-rejected/

in my case it appears that my country is not accepted (does not show up on the countries list) in 2020.. strange

Hi! Just wondering if you ever sorted this? Having the same trouble myself and kinda depending on Stripe

Unfortunately not. Had to move over to Gumroad. You may also want to try Braintree as their restrictions are less strict.

yes similar thing happend to my previous company due to charge backs. There cut off right I beleive is 2%.

Our charge backs were due to fraudulent payments that we were not able to catch.

    What are you selling?

    1. 1

Even 1% as I checked yesterday. The thing is I haven't even launched. I was going to sell access to a growth tactics database.

Weird, try to get in contact with them via phone call. Or reach out to someone on LinkedIn

Yikes that stinks. Maybe look at a competitor like https://www.braintreepayments.com/ or really switch things up and accept Bitcoin or some other crypto currency

I would if I wasn't using MemberStack for memberships and Stripe is their only payment solution. Really weird that they give you zero info about what's wrong and you can't fix it.

Ah gotcha. Ya that sucks :/

what is your product? this is strange, you should ask to get on a call with a manager and talk it over with them and afterwards can you reply here what the resolution is?
