I love Wim Hof breathing and I'm on-again-off-again with the cold shower method he recommends. I personally find the breath-work super energizing in the morning. Wondering if anyone else has experience with the practice and if so, how long you've been doing it and what benefits you've seen?
Yes! The science behind it is pretty amazing, but I'm finding it hard to remember to do the breathing in the morning, even though I have done it enough to know the benefits
The science behind it is pretty amazing! I saw a couple of days ago that Wim revealed new science on how his method (i think the breathing specifically) supports people with autoimmune disorders to heal. So cool! I agree though, even though it can be as short as 12 minutes I don't always remember/make time for it.
Morning-time 'power breathing' does wonders to productivity! I am most off-again, but thank you for bringing it up!
At this pop-up coliving in Medellin I got to do the full Monty with an ice-bath and everything. Tingly feelings all over, from inside (hyperoxygenated blood) and out (skin getting flooded with blood for heat)!
It's super popular with Nomad Cruisers and Burners
Amazing!! I'd love to do the whole experience (even though it also sounds so intimidating!). Very cool co-living space by the sounds of it.
I did the breathing techniques a few times. That’s positively weird. Should probably have kept doing them but as with all things, I forgot about them.
I did the cold showers too but only at the end of a hot shower :) I still do it regularly even now that we are in winter (even though the cold shower part lasts less long than before...).
Ending with cold has the effect of giving you an energy boost. It’s good in the morning but might not be a good idea just before going to bed ah ah.
you found the effects of the breathing positively weird? because of the tingling, maybe? and, hah! I agree that right before bed might not be the best time. An, summer time definitely trumps winter time with this practice.
Weird because you almost feel like you’re going to lose consciousness after doing 30-40 breathings, and then you can hold your breath for 2 to 3 minutes, or do quite a lot of push-ups without breathing.
And you also feel extremely calm.
haha, okay, this description made me laugh. I now completely understand your use of 'positively weird' thanks :)
Yeah. Cold showers are the best. Harder to do in the winter though lol.
Agree! The winter makes it harder to do for sure.
