Have you heard about the Chef Ferran Adria? They had a house by the sea, they were closed there for 5 years experimenting with everything they could about cooking.
I want to do the same. I'm looking for a place to spend the winter, and it would be amazing to share the experience with other IHs.
I have a house, a girlfriend, and a dog. So this probably wouldn't work for me. But damn had this been a few years ago I would have signed up in a heartbeat!
Chiming in to say this sounds like a fun idea, and I've considered doing it myself. Although my lease isn't up on my apartment until next April…
I'm interested in this as a future lifestyle / life plan. Save up, get a big house together with some maker friends, and have a semi open door policy all year round where the creative, curious, and collaborative can come together to play, tinker, and ideate.
Sign me up virtually. Share camera stream to the ocean, we can video chat and slack all day while we work.
Super interested! It has been a while since I have lived nomadically but I am thinking about picking it up again. The last time I did this, it did get lonely because it was 2015 and not a lot of people were remote working around me.
Not sure how to organize this, but same here, I'm not interested in spending a lot in flights neither eating the winter : ) , just pick a place and enjoy it.
Probably what we could do is try to plan it like if it was for a month so we can rent a nice place and live together for a month and let's see where it goes from there.
Maybe 4 people could be a good number. Is there any Indie tool out there to organize a project like this?
I don't know of an Indie Tool. I got into working remotely because I didn't like selling SAAS at the office and being locked in a cube. Right now, I am looking to go back to the nomadic lifestyle because I want more global experiences and I want to be around others also working remotely and I also find that when I live in houses with non-internet works that get upset about me working remotely. The companies doing this are charging way too much and I ready did this by myself for a year just renting airBnB.
Great! I'm thinking on asia, november-december. What are your plans? Write me if your interested, betolopezayesa@gmail.com
Hey guys, this is not a business idea. Already been nomad, I don't want to do that. I just want to find a place and stay there for 6months to 1 year.
It will be cheaper if we rent a villa or house or whatever as a group. The accomodation will be much nicer, and as we all will be doing the same...
So yes it's the same you have heard about co-living but we can call it what it always have been, sharing a home with other internet-workers.
This is a cool idea! Similar to @shanefromfargo - my life now wouldn't really make it feasible, but a few years ago would've jumped on something like this!
It's happening in Bali already.
Any more information, like costs, visas etc?
It's cheap. Check yourself, Airbnb or hotels in booking and visa costs. Could you be interested @volkandkaya ?
Wouldn't mind finding a community. They're normally hard to make. So finding one that already exists would be the goal.
Airbnb sounds like an expensive way to do it.
Coliving places are expensive also. Maybe better choice would be to get a coworking space membership and a room in a villa instead.
I spent 4 months in Bali, mainly Canggu and lived with my wife in a Villa. I'd recommend checking out Facebook groups, e.g. Bali digital nomads, Canggu Community, etc.
Yeah I can imagine coliving being expensive as they cater towards digital nomads who are working remotely who have more disposable income than a indie hacker.
Them facebook groups are more what I was looking for.
Can you put me in contact with anybody you know please?
Buena idea,... yo lo haria si no tuviese una hija.
Ferran Adriá es una maquina, un primo trabajo con el y tal...
A lo que íbamos,...buscar un sponsor y todo solucionado.

I can't even commute. What a circus!
Let me be honest, I actually have a reason why I did it....
Do you want the short or the long version?
