Hi guys,

I'll be giving straight to the point real and actionable advice from personal experience and knowledge. If you also know about running ads or a better alternative feel free to also give your advice in this thread.
Genuinely looking to help someone go in the right direction or get out of a loss-leading situation.
so go ahead and leave your FB ad questions and situations that you need help with
How does someone start on this? I've fired up facebook ad manager and spent well over $1,000 on this, but just not seeing any results. I often get overwhelmed with how all of this comes together. Any suggestions on how to get started?
Hey @shanefromfargo, These are the usual common and possible reasons why your Facebook Ads Don't Work :
Could you shed some light on what specific problems you’re facing , perhaps it’s costing a lot to run the ads (high CPA).
Or perhaps there is no conversion from running the ads .
Reading the ad campaign data is very insightful and helpful as you can figure out where exactly you need to put more attention on e.g people are visiting your website through the ads (good CTR) but none are taking action so now we know it is either the offer or the landing page .
Sorry if this sounds confusing .
Would a Facebook checklist help ?
Thanks for the response. I think the biggest thing is just not knowing how to track it after they came to my site. I setup an ad, directed them to my site with a form on it and I could never tell how many people were filling out the form from facebook ads vs. people just naturally on my website.
You can use an Facebook pixel to track what people do on your site and retarget them and also try use similarweb - helps you track where people are coming from .
We were successful with video on Facebook. But too many were from mobile. And with Mobile a user can't get to the aha moment "as easy".
Good point! Video really is effective but usually for purchasing e-commerce products .
Have you tried retargeting them only for desktop - so they get it better
We did 2 1/2 month tests on that channel and when we resume this channel we will re establish our baseline KPI's first.
Awesome would love to know how that goes for you
Thank you for taking the time to do this Brandon!
I have 2 questions:
How can I target people that have a youtube channel, I tried targeting video creators/people that had working at youtube, but it didn't worked out as planned.
Facebook is showing a lot more website clicks then there are in the Google Analytics, is that a common problem? Sometimes it even shows clicks and there are 0 on google analytics.
PS: I'm trying to advertise www.regirank.com using fb ads.
@MMike no problem .
The most effective method to be honest with you may be to run YouTube ads just like what artlist.io is doing - it targets YouTubers by advertising on youtubers searching for music so targeting youtubers who search about YouTube SEO or how to rank on YouTube would be great for regirank.com.
Facebook clicks are simply every time there is a click on a Facebook ad. This means that if the same user clicks an ad twice, it is counted as two clicks. Google counts unique clicks not just clicks.
Hope this was helpful Mike
Thank you for the response, yes I'm planning to try YouTube ads too.
About 2, I get that, but the problem is that sometimes FB is showing 10 clicks in a day for a site and there are 0 visits on that site.
Okay, FB is not very accurate with their data as I’ve noticed but as the numbers get higher like above 100 google will be better to use to check for unique visits
Yeah, I see, this doesn't bother me, the problem is that I'm paying for clicks that I never received.
I'm actively seeking info on LinkedIn ads if you know about them or if they're similar. My startup is enterprise software and I'll be specifically targeting CIO's and CTO's in my local area as first customers. I assume Facebook is not the right place for those ads but please correct me if I'm wrong.
In reading the LinkedIn docs on ads it seems overly complex but that could be because I'm a developer not a marketer.
Thanks,
Alright so I understand you’re probably in B2B and are targeting the heads of the company .
What I’ve personally learnt and seen work on LinkedIn is direct outreach - connecting and genuinely talking to your prospects .
What you could do is run FB ads as a retargeting campaign meaning anyone who visits your website will Recieve your ad and will become more knowledgeable of your solution and may potentially take action or reach out to you on the LinkedIn conversation you would have started.
After all we all do our research on someone who reaches out to us so think of the FB ad as a pitch to the CIO or CTO.
I’ve only suggested this because I’m not too aware of startups using LinkedIn ads as they are very steep and not the most effective for people starting out .
What methods have you tried so far?
Thanks so much!
I've not tried anything yet (recovering from a near-fatal crash so can't earn income). You've confirmed exactly what I was thinking. LinkedIn ads seem more expensive than others but I know personally I pay no attention to them. I was thinking I would reach out personally and just work on relationship building.
It'll be a bunch of experimenting and learning to gain these first few customers. Thanks again.
@Lakebed_io sorry to hear that mate . Wishing you a speedy recovery !
Very true . Test test test. All the best !
