Anyone run out of the 10k limit on Slack?
Hey!
is anyone on a free plan on slack and has run out of the 10k message limit and can give me feedback if when he exports the messages that it will include all and not only the last 10k's ?
Would be super awesome if someone could check! 🙌
I don't want to be the "I wrote something for this" person, but I happen to have put together a quick desktop program to archive, search, and analyze Slack messages back when I was on a team that relied on Slack for pretty much all communications, but didn't want to pay for the service.

It's not the official Slack bundling and goes through their "will be obsolete, some day" API, but it keeps every conversation in a separate JSON file and tries to make it easy to export important posts as Markdown. It also works for people who don't have administrative access, though they're obviously limited to what they already have permission to see.
I tried setting up a zapier to backup all convos from slack group but it was too expensive.
As @rosiesherry just confirmed you can export your whole log at any time which will include all messages even on the free plan.
One thing to keep in mind is that the data will be sorted by day. So you get a json per day.
Will need some fancy scripts to combine everything together. I would be surprised if there isn't a solution for this already

Actually, it came quickly in the end. It seems to include the entire history in json files, it has reminded me how long we've had the Slack - 5 years!
