Anyone use Dribbble? Tips working with freelance designers?

I would actually say to not worry too much about your branding at this stage.

Branding is very important, I sell it to clients, but in the beginning it doesn’t matter that much. What matters more is product/market fit. What I’ve found is when you are still trying to figure out stuff in the beginning it changes so much. This is why I stopped selling brands to new companies/startups. Half way through the process they would pivot and I’d need to start over.

So its better to ship with something minimal as best you can do with your skills. Find traction, product/market fit, and then start worrying about branding/design.

For a logo I recommend people use a nice readable font for the name. And for colors, find a nice color palette at colourlovers.com.

@jonathancai I’m one of “these” people, but you’re right - you’re going to get quite a variety of designers on Dribbble as you would anywhere else. But one thing you must understand is that we, designers, typically price a project based on the value it will bring to you, and also the level of revenue it’s likely to generate. In other words, I may charge a bakery $50/hr to design a website. But if Nike were to reach out with an app design request, I may charge them $150/hr. Therefore, I would go into the conversation with a budget in mind vs dancing back and forth.

The wonderful thing about Dribbble is that you can see a persons work before making contact, so it’s a safer bet than most mediums.
