Anyone work with a good PR consultant or firm?

I’m looking to invest in public/media relations for my software product (swiftread.com).

1. Has anyone worked with a good PR consultant or firm before? If so, who were they?

2. Any words of advice for a) vetting and then b) working successfully with a PR person/firm in general?
