Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the data security aspect of face recognition, that the image does not leave the device?
Good question, that depends on the use case. For example. You may use face recognition service to track attendance in your company, but people should know and give consent that their facial data is being used. To comply with GDPR, they can request their data deletion. Also, it depends on the country. Also if it's applied somewhere in the private space, at home, at your club, then it's much easier.
