App that can calculate how much rewards I could have earned if I had a certain credit card

I currently have the Capital One Savor rewards card:

  • 4% dining and entertainment
  • 2% grocery stores
  • 1% everything else

And I was wondering if it would be better for me to have the Amazon card:

  • 3% Amazon.com & Whole Foods
  • 2% restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores
  • 1% everything else

Which gave me the idea of an app that could check my bank transactions (e.g. for the past year), and calculate and compare how much cash back I could have earned with the two cards.

Would anyone else find this useful?

    Hello
I see some promise in this Idea if this could be made like Trivago for credit cards.
A place where one can see comparison with all the leading credit cards with some list of transactions that user provides. It doesn't have to be an actual list from the bank but some sample transactions to get an idea.

      I appreciate the validation!

And I was thinking of using a person's actual bank transactions so that s/he has a clearer picture of how s/he would benefit from the credit card's rewards, since everyone has different spending habits.

Update: Darn, I just found an app that already does this :( https://cardcruncher.com/

I wouldn't personally use it, only because I think you'd never support importing transactions from my bank (Danske Bank), and because my purchases are so simple (90% buying stuff from Amazon and Rakuten), that finding the perfect card probably wouldn't be very hard even without the tool.

      Gotcha, I appreciate your perspective!
