I'm releasing an update of my iOS application where is application subtitle and description I have used a reference to - Instagram.
My product are tshirts filled with Instagram pictures - so I pretty much need to use this direct reference to Instagram. It was OK for last 2 releases. Suddenly my recent update was rejected on grounds of misused Instagram reference. Quick look at App Store and you will find multiple apps using Instagram in title, subtitle, description.
Anyone have any experience fighting your way through release process?
Should I change it for now and revert change on next release - hoping to hit some other reviewer?
We recently got rejected for another reason that was a result of Apple not understanding the full context.
I would just resubmit it with all of the information you know to give them context. Things like other apps are already doing the exact same thing, and how this is no different than what you've already been doing are perfectly valid reasons. I was as verbose as possible when we faced this issue and it worked.
Thanks. I have already resubmitted with changed subtitle. But after reading your comment I will get back to old slogo in next release.
I include an explainer paragraph at the end of literally every single review that outlines that we had previously been rejected due to reason "xyz" and how we should be given access and why. It's my opinion that if you bore them with the nitty gritty details and be very verbose, they will see that you've taken the time to explain yourself and you come across as more legit. I've used the same tactic with Facebook review as well. They're trying to pre-screen the bad guys and so you just have to limit risk for them.
Thanks I did that and currently waiting for any feedback from review team. Thanks! Good to know you were able to convince them
