Apple Search Ads: Costs per Install much higher than benchmark

Hi,

I recently launched my app page91... and now I want to make it famous :D

I am currently experimenting with Apple Search Ads as it seems logical to address users who are specifically searching for an app like mine.

page91 is an app to teach Spanish - According to this website (but also all other reports/statistics I've found) the avg. cost per install for educational apps in the US is $1.26.

However, with the "Basic" tool I am paying significantly more (currently almost 4$ per install); with the "Advanced" tool and choosing specific keywords, the costs rocket up to 7-8$ per install.

Did I simply choose a more competitive niche within the education sector, is my app (or my presentation) just bad or am I doing something wrong?

Any advise or experiences?

If your budget is less than $4k a day, then only target [Exact] match keywords. If you're able to put in the effort then always use Advanced.
Educational apps in the US at $1.26 seems low to be honest, you have big players in this space like Duolingo that have a really great product and monetization that probably pushes up the price there too.

Okay, my budget is definitely lower than $4k a day...
      thanks for your hint!
