Best of all, while we're still in beta...it's free!
In classic Indie Hackers style, I started Apricot as a personal side project. I'm all-in now, but it's still a bootstrapped, solo effort, so please check it out and let me know what you think!
Hey Brian. I checked out the app. I think it's pretty neat! The registration process was seamless and the product was easy to understand and use. I personally have more than enough content to keep up with on the internet so I'm not yet sure how much I'll use it. Is the plan to crowdsource feed channels that others could follow? If so doesn't this create the popular chicken-egg problem for building a platform? How do you plan to solve this? What are your strategies for distribution and growth?
Nice, thanks for checking it out!
I don't quite understand your comment about having enough content on the internet. Most of us have too much content to follow, spread across dozens of different apps. Apricot's purpose is to help us organize and prioritize it, so we catch the important stuff.
There isn't a chicken and egg problem because users can add any feed by copying and pasting the URL -- they're not limited to things already on Apricot.
For zero-budget growth so far it's mostly Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and the blog for SEO. The usual Indie Hacker type stuff.
Interesting. This statement is key:
"Apricot's purpose is to help us organize and prioritize it, so we catch the important stuff".
Somehow I didn't immediately get that sense the first time I read the post or even visited the app, but it does make sense now. I certainly think there's value in Apricot for someone like myself. Thanks for clarifying.
Yeah, your comment made me realize my tagline missed the target. I'm on my landing page trying new wording :)
Thank you!
Absolutely!
