Hey all,
I'm planning on sending out the first email to my beta subscribers. I've used Mailchimp in the past, but I'm looking to use something more lightweight.
I don't use a ton of features - in particular I like nice looking email templates (with easy customisation) and list handling capabilities.
Are there any IHers working on a Mailchimp alternative? If so, feel free to link your product! Happy to pay too.
EmailOctopus is a bootstrapped alternative. I recently switch and love it so far. https://emailoctopus.com/
I was going to recommend EmailOctopus as well.
Thanks for mentioning us!
Two questions...
If so, I'll signup, too!
Yes, custom fields and segmentation are in the product.
Our API supports the retrieval of a contact using the Email Address: https://emailoctopus.com/api-documentation/lists/get-contact
What I meant by custom fields is, can I query the api for "all subscribers whose role is freelancer" or for "all subscribers whose interest is databases"? This is assuming I've created a custom field called "role" and another called "interest", of course.
Segmenting each unique email address into its own bucket is a bit too fine-grained for me 🤣
Awesome, thank you - it looks great. Will take a deeper look today
I really enjoy using https://postmarkapp.com/
Thanks, I'll have a look!
I'm building Sidemail.io, it's a complete email platform specifically designed for SaaS products. Definetly much more lightweight than Mailchimp in every way.
Sidemail really shines when you send transactional emails via API as well, but you can use it solely for newsletters & automation.
Thanks - I'll take a look tonight! I use Sendgrid for transactional email, which seems to work well. Just need something for newsletters!
I like AWeber. I use it for publishing a growth marketing newsletter. I find the editor very powerful yet easy to use and the list subscription management is good. I use zapier to connect it to webflow form for email subscriptions.
Bonus, their support and development team are very responsive and helpful.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Sendfox is also great.
ListMonk is a self-host option as well.
If you use Wordpress, FluentCRM is an option
I don't use Wordpress, but thank you for the suggestion :)
I use Sendy (https://sendy.co/)
Doesn't come with templates, but you can import your Mailchimp ones
Thanks!
I'm looking to develop https://sestemplates.com into something like what you're asking - doesn't do it yet though.
Awesome - good luck with development! I don't need SES integration for my particular use case, just something with a simple designer and list management.
