Are blogs/content creation worth it?

I am currently building ClickStack - a backend as a service platform to launch backend stacks without writing code. I am trying drive traffic and many people recommend writing blogs. I have written a few, but takes a decent amount of time to write. I am wondering if it's really worth the investment. Would my time be better spent on twitter/slack/reddit ect? Does anyone have some data points that they'd like to share?

The mistake that you're making here is that it might not be worth it for YOU to write it.

Why? Bc you don't have time to work on the content and you also lack the time to do proper content syndication.

The easiest way to solve this problem is to hire a freelance writer who can help you with evergreen content that can be used to get signups/sales of your product. Then when you have time, you can sit down and write the thought leadership posts that will make your brand stand out.

Blogging isn't only about letting people know who you are, it also improves your SEO and brand authority. Hope this helps!

It might be more effective to do a paid advertising experiment. It will help you figure out which keywords you should be using in future content, and you can get quicker feedback on your ad clickthrough rate. Cheaper than the time invested in all the blog posts.

I'm in the same boat. I invested time in writing 50+ blogs. There was traffic but not relevant. I stopped doing that as SEO takes time to pop up on google. Your time will be better spent on other channels as you will make connections this way.
