Are Niche Job Boards the Future of Tech Hiring?

I've been looking at how hiring platforms are evolving, and one trend keeps standing out: specialization.

General job boards have millions of listings, but they also come with a lot of noise—irrelevant roles, duplicate postings, outdated vacancies, and endless filtering.

For developers and other digital professionals, that can make job searching surprisingly frustrating.

It got me thinking: instead of trying to serve every industry, does it make more sense to build platforms dedicated to specific audiences?

I recently came across DigitalJobs (https://digitaljobs.com), a platform focused exclusively on digital and technology careers. Rather than being another general-purpose job board, it aims to connect employers with professionals in software engineering, AI, data, cybersecurity, product, design, and other digital fields.

The idea itself isn't revolutionary—there are already niche platforms for startups, remote work, and freelance talent—but I think there's still room for products that prioritize relevance over volume.

From a product perspective, the interesting challenge isn't building a job board; it's solving problems like:

  • Helping candidates find relevant opportunities faster

  • Reducing noise in search results

  • Improving the quality of employer-candidate matches

  • Creating a better experience for both job seekers and recruiters

I'm curious what other founders think.

If you were building a hiring platform today, what would you focus on?

  • Better matching with AI?

  • More transparency around salaries?

  • Skills-based hiring instead of resumes?

  • Something completely different?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
