Are niche job boards websites still a thing?
Hi there,
What do you think about niche job posting websites like "remoteok", "ai-jobs", "efinancialcareers", etc: are they profitable? Are they still a popular choice for recruiters and applicants?
I'm a software engineer and I've noticed that recruiters are trying other ways of engagement such as medium articles, social media, hackatons, meetups, etc. So I was wondering if the job posting apps are still the most effective tool and how this may change in the future.
Any thoughts?
100%, but getting users to the site is the hard part. Building a job board with no marketing plan will end up badly.
I have seen a ton of job boards posted on IH, but hear nothing after launch.

I reach 1,000€ MRR with a niche job board. LinuxJobs.fr was launched in September 2015 and started to earn money in February 2017, steadily increasing since then.
Do you scrape websites for listings?
no I don't, recruiters post job offers by themself.
What made the difference? How did you suddenly get traction? Thanks!
There was a need in this niche. For the launch I contacted 200 recruiters and got something like 20 job offers. Service was free to use at this time. 2 years after the community and users were large enough to switch to a pay-to-use model.
