Are warmup tools overrated?

There're a lot of hype on the market for the warmup tools. Some consider them useful, some - useless.

I think the question is not whether they are overrated or not, but HOW and for which PURPOSES people use them. That's why the reviews vary so much. Here is my explanation:

The warmup’s goal is to prepare a new mailbox for sending, increase your sending volumes gradually and show your email service provider that you’re a trusted sender. Taking for granted, that the domain you have good domain heath, not included in any blacklists, and respect sending limits of your ESP.

That is the proper use of warmup tools.

Additionally, different tools offer different lists of services. If they provide warmup interactions with the other users (most of them does), probably other users don’t have high sender score, so it won’t reflect positively on your mailbox. If your warmup emails are just sent and replied, but not taken from spam or starred, it also doesn’t bring much value. Be attentive when choosing a tool.

If you need a permanent solution for high inbox rate, and low spam rate, that’s another question. In that case just a warmup tool is not enough. Spam filters take into account many other variables. Your overall domain health score, your email authentication, DNS records, email lists, email content, etc.

That’s why at Folderly we differentiate these two services: there is no single solution.
