Are you a conscious shopper?

Hi there,

I am building a marketplace for Sustainable, Local, and Social Impact products - April22.co. This marketplace will be an alternative to Amazon for customers who have particular values in shopping and try to support them. For example you could find a shirt made from recycled materials, minority owned business that produces wallets and accessories, USA made skincare, or cruelty free/vegan cleaning supplies etc.

I am wondering how many conscious shoppers are here among IHers? What do you care about when shopping?

    YES!

I was just thinking about how this type of idea could really work. I want to be self-conscious, but the amount of time, energy and mental strain required to ensure everything you have is sustainable, eco-friendly, etc is parallelizing.

I was thinking if you had a place that had everything you needed to live a sustainable life, that would be huge.

    For example,

    • I just bought a huge pack of AAA batteries, and didn't think to buy rechargeable ones.
    • I use plastic bags to pick up after my dog, when there are bags that are compostable.
    • Found out you can buy coffee beans grown in the shade, which uses less energy to produce.
    • Chewable toothpaste that can be refilled without packaging.
    • etc....

If only there was one go-to place to find sustainable alternatives...

I think this would work well with non-gov people and left-oriented people who support minorities/recycling/etc. You have plenty of these groups on FB.

Thank you! FB groups were the inspiration for the product. Made in USA is something that might be attractive to the right-oriented people. Which group would you put yourself into?
