Are you a Twitter newbie?

As an indie maker, it's important to have a strong presence on social media, particularly on Twitter. One of the key ways to grow your audience on the platform is to consistently tweet and engage with other users.

Here are a few research observation that I have personally seen to help you grow your Twitter audience:

1. Tweet at least 2-3 times a day: Consistency is key on social media, and posting regularly will help you stay top of mind with your followers. Consider tweeting at least 2-3 times a day, with a mix of content such as updates on your projects, industry news, and personal thoughts or experiences.

2. Share your learnings and achievements: A great way to engage with your followers is to share your learnings and achievements with them. This could be in the form of a thread, where you share your insights or progress on a particular project. This helps to build a sense of community and connection with your followers, and gives them a glimpse into your work and thought process. I usually share how my day went, what were my learnings. This also helps me hold myself accountable and I do feel great sharing my productivity with everyone. It depends person to person. Write whatever you are comfortable with in the beginning.

3. Use the #buildinpublic hashtag: #buildinpublic is a popular hashtag among indie makers and creators who share their work and progress publicly. By using this hashtag, you'll be able to connect with other makers and creators in the same community, and get valuable feedback and support. I have started my build in public journey too just may be a week ago and although it hasn't brought me a lot of leads or followers but it has definitely helped me feel like a part of community.

4. Reply to as many posts as possible: Engaging with other users is a crucial part of building a strong Twitter presence. Make an effort to reply to as many posts as possible, particularly those that are relevant to your work or interests. If you're one of the first to reply, your comment will be more likely to show up at the top of the thread, increasing the chances that it will be seen by more people. This is something I have been doing since day one. I comment on beginners like me but I also comment on a lot of posts by people with a lot of following. There may be a chance that they reply to your comment and you will likely be shown on many people's feed. Always worth trying and it helps making connection.

By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to building a strong and engaged Twitter audience. Remember to be authentic and genuine in your interactions, and you'll be sure to attract like-minded followers who are interested in your work and journey as an indie maker.
