It was really challenging to come with our project to the current prototype, now for the first time, we are cautiously seeking some public visibility in order to connect with first anonymous users.
This makes me so nervous. On the one hand, I'm super excited and inspired by every feedback, my head is exploding with ideas on how to proceed. The potential of the project is constantly injecting and demanding energy but at the same time, I go cyclicly into attacks of fear of total failure.
Ok, I was reading everywhere that this is normal but being in that position is different from reading about it.
Are you guys experiencing a similar rollercoaster?
Rollercoaster keeps on rollin’
When having a product in production
Days of amazing sales everything is great the sky is the limit, a week of low sales and I’m in the gutter energy wise scrambling to find what’s going on.
When working on new product
Today it feels like what I’m building is amazing. Next day it feels like anyone can do it and I’m a total failure.
Ok, that sounds familiar, thank you
Hi Sam,
The rollercoaster is normal, that said personally I feel it much less these days after a few successful and many unsuccessful projects that ended in shambles, felt catastrophic at the moment, but turned out to be blessing in disguise.
For me it was important to understand a few things:
That said, if you still feel that rollercoaster that is also ok. I would suggest to deconstruct logically why you feel this way, but you definitely should not beat yourself up about it.
Cheers,
Nice answer - hits very much my own thoughts on it, thank you, like your approach.
Anxiety/Rollercoaster of emotions is common, even 100% expected, with startups.
One day you feel unstoppable; the other day you feel like an abject failure.
The most important thing to do, regardless of how you feel, is to carry on and don't throw in the towel.
Take a breather if you have to. A day, a week, even a month.
But never give up. Learn to rest. And then try again.
