Are you conscious about your actions?

Do you recognise it?

You just have to do something, but you are demotivated.
1 hour of effort feels like 3!

And it also works the other way around.
The time flies by for the things you feel passion for.

I was traveling and working for my own clients.
The problem was: projects took long and I got demotivated.

The more demotivated I got, the less effort I put in.
1 hour felt like 4 hours at that time, so I felt like I put in a lot of effort after 20 hours of work a week!

The first step: time tracking

I decided to track my time, in my calendar.
I prefer Apple products because of the integration with one another, and I loved the basic calendar app.

I noticed I worked only 20 hours a week, but mentally I was tired.

Every week, I added up the hours to make a summary.
I saw progress for the first moment I was aware of my situation!

I noticed that when I was unaware, I just let it happen.

The second step: save time

This was working really well for me.
But if took me a lot of time to add everything up.

So, I created an app to get insights/a summary of my calendar.

Every moment I want, I get an instant summary.

I use it now to check progression during the week, and to reflect at the end of the week.
It saves me about 60 minutes at every end of the week, and I can now see my progression during the week!

The next step: tracking more than just work

I also started to track the efforts in my private life, because why not?
I noticed I watched TV over 15 hours a week, and it totally felt like a time-waste!

I decided free time & relaxation is very important, but I decided to spend this time more with friends, family and social contacts.

Conclusion

Being conscious about how I spend my time increased my productivity with over 100%!
I also feel like I spend my time more wisely. On both work, free time and daily habits like cooking, cleaning, etc.
I even get less distracted, because I also track the time I spend on social media and browsing internet news websites and such.
It is a great feeling to have the profile of how you spend your time in your pocket.
