Are you creating videos programmatically?

Hello everyone,

I would like to get in touch with other IndieHackers that are creating videos programmatically. I would like to learn about their use cases and solutions they use.

Cheers,

I do that a lot. Learned the tricks of the trade @ Brightcove in its early startup days. Most recent was a two-week ultra-niche experiment for LOTR fans on TikTok to learn how the TikTok algorithm works and how people would react. It's a combination of Direct3D capture and several auto-generated overlays (mostly texts in exotic fonts with shading). I built my own tool for this in C# using FFMPEG & ImageMagick packages. In the end I could make a custom video on request (users would request a translation in comments) in about a minute. You can see the progression of the idea and the complexity of the video output on https://www.tiktok.com/@gulherdir?lang=en Note: this was just an experiment to have something fun to do while creating the code - it wasn't intended to go viral in this particular niche, but the code will be a good basis for something more ambitious.

Wow! That's an amazing use case! This is much more complex than the use cases I was expecting to see here. Congrats!

thanks, it was fun to do! Unfortunately I did hit the TikTok algorithm ceiling at some point since this is a very small target niche. But nevertheless the analytics were very promising, I reached about 20K views without any social networking, ads or other forms of promotion in about 2 weeks. Just pure organic views from a small niche.
