Are you getting good traffic from Quora?

I’ve recently started answering some relevant questions on Quora, hoping to generate some referral traffic through to my current project (ippy.io - a free resume and cv building app).

The approach I’m planning to take is to try to provide relevant, useful answers, then occasionally link through to longer form articles on the same topic on my own site for anyone who’s interested to read in more depth.

It’s far too early to predict how this strategy will pan out for me - but I’m hoping some other Indie Hackers might have some wisdom to share! So, have you...

  • Attempted to use Quora for marketing purposes?
  • If so, did you see any results?
  • If yes, do you have any tips to share? If no, what do you think the problem was?

Shameless Plug: I’ve added an answer suggesting ippy.io as an option on the following question: Quora: What is the best online CV builder? Honestly my answer in this instance is completely shameless self-promotion. However it is also perfectly relevant to the question.

In any case, if anyone’s feeling generous, an upvote on the Quora question would of course be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Harrison,

I got thousands of visitors (and sign-ups for a newsletter) from Quora. I wrote an article about it here on what I did to get there and how I got 1.5m views (now 1.9m) on my content on Quora: https://noisecutters.com/how-to-get-1500000-views-3400-sign-ups-on-quora/

The article outlines what I did right, what I did wrong, and how you can do the same.

Let me know if you have any questions, always happy to help :)

That was a great read, thanks for sharing Frank!

I've been answering questions for a couple of weeks and have about 2k views, 100+ visits.

I think the key is to answer the question and only plug your link where relevant.

Where it is relevant, and answers the question spot-on, you'll see good traffic from it.

Good to hear you’re seeing some results. That’s basically the strategy I’m aiming for - no bs, just good answers.

Got very little traffic from answers to ~20 questions. So far it looks like it's not worth spending time on answering questions.

    1. 1

That’s too bad - do you think you’ll stick with it much longer?

      1. 1

Not really. Doesn't seem to be worth the time.

I've only just started using Quora (46 views) from answering like 7 questions, so not amazing yet but im hoping for them to compound over time and hopefully bring in some really relevant traffic for me.

I'm also reading an e book called quorific from gumroad which details how to optimise your account and answers etc to get the most traffic possible - only $9.99 (not affiliated ahahah)

    I upvoted your answer :)

Keep us updated with traffic please!!!

Cheers for the upvote! Might have to pick up a copy of Quorific - are you finding it useful/good value?

For sure will provide an update on results once I've been plugging away at this for a little longer.

I'm only on page 30/111 but from what I read it's not bad at all, definitely worth the $9.99...

I'll give you my full review when I finish it.

In my eyes it was so cheap that I thought, why the hell not, during quarantine I've got plenty of time to read it etc and I want Quora to be my main traffic source soon - so not becoming an expert on it isn't an option for me right now hahaha

        1. 1

Haha absolutely, a lot of spare time to fill in quarantine. Would definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts once you’ve finished it.

I haven't finished it yet, but I am getting somewhere with Quora... I've hit 124 views on my content and 2 upvotes so not bad?

Also I've gotten a lot of traffic from Quora, I don't know the exact figures but I'd say at least 25% is from Quora

I have been answering some quora questions, haven't seen any noticeable traffic from Quora yet.

    1. 1

How long have you been answering questions for?

        1. 1

Hopefully things start to pick up! Have any of answers been getting any upvotes? Seems like it might be pretty hard to get noticed - most of the (even slightly) popular questions seem to have a heap of answers. Though often quite low quality...
