Are you interested in a very simple blogging platform?
There exist a plethora of blogging platforms from WordPress to Ghost but most of the developers prefer just static blog engines like Jekyll, Hugo. But some people are even too lazy to do that too. So are you interested in a platform that is dead simple where you could just login, and write post in markdown, apply some tags and hit publish. Blog layout will be plain and super fast, no side crap. Just good old plain blogging.
Any suggestions?

The email updates come in a well designed responsive email, with a link. The email updates can be written in Markdown, making it easy for you to style.
I just added the ability to create an API integration for creating new projects/posting new stories, so you can even build interesting interfaces. One user is working on a CLI interface.

I am using Github Pages + Jekyll (my blog: 1c7.me)(not maintaining any more)
every time I want write blog I got write markdown and then git push, pretty annoying. (and I need do preview on my local machine), it slow me down.
I am using Medium now because just too lazy

I'm investigating using Gatsby.js + NetlifyCMS for a new blog hosted on Github Pages.
Curiously, while most blogging platforms talk about analytics as a bonus, I want to specifically have a blog without any tracking, so people (especially developers) feel more at ease and respected. Number of email subscribers is a good enough metric, so I don't need pageviews and other vanity numbers.
This sounds a lot like what ghost.org was created to address.
Also will it be okay if I don't charge people and just put one carbon ad ( tailored for Dev's) at the bottom to cover costs? Any suggestions?
Me personally, I would be more interested in a component I could plug into the framework I am using.
While I work on my web app, I have to have a blog aspect for content marketing purposes. I essentially have to create my own blog system to accomplish this.

I would be interested in this. If it was easy to style with plain CSS, had minimal file size (and preferably almost no Javascript), and was easy to setup, then I might use it.

Not sure about developer focused blogs, but I am still to find a conversion focused blogging platform to build lists. There is one template which is based on wordpress which has opt-in form, popups etc. and it costs around 350$/m... otherwise I think Jekyll / Hugo are already pretty simple to use...

Sure, so I want to start blogging and want to select a theme and content that converts. You don't have solutions right now which allow you to create sort of an engine which includes opt-in forms for letting your users subscribe to your list. I know there are leadpages and other themes and templates but they are super ugly and old school. The only thing I found was "conversion cats" but its rather a theme than an engine. What I am looking for is something that will allow me to build a minimalistic blog and has all the features inside for increasing my subscribers like https://pjrvs.com/ or groovhq blog => if you chek them you are prompted to subscribe in all various different methods. Right now in order to do that with wordpress you need to install different plugins etc. so there is no 1-in solution sort of.
