Are you interested in free money? (Legit question)
My friend was recently granted 200 ETH through his proposal on a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization), and it got me thinking...how much free money is there on the internet, waiting for people to apply?
So this weekend I threw together a site called MakerGrants.co and started looking for grants. Turns out there are quite a lot! (So far I've listed 17 on the site...more to come)
Obviously the most time-intensive part is compiling the grants list. I'm wondering if fellow Indie Hackers would find value in this type of list?
I think it's a cool idea, but i'm not sure how to monetize it. Would people be willing to pay for a curated list of grants? Would grant sponsors be willing to pay for space on the site?
Any thoughts on the site/idea would be greatly appreciated!

You'r mixing everything in one, grants, accelerators, NGO help...
I don't think there is value in a big list of all of this as one, I'm pretty sure many exist.
The problem with all of these is 1st filtering, what do you actually qualify for.
2nd is what's the likelihood you can actually get it, some are like 100% some are like 1:500,000
3rd is how hard and long is the process... some government ones could take months and/or at times there are hard dates for stages in the process...
4th what costs really are involved like the accelerator puts you in a contract...
All of this free money can actually be super expensive when you account for it all.
As well as indihackers are focused more on bootstrapping.
You can probably find niches that would appreciate such lists :shrug:

Thanks for the lengthy reply. I think you raise a lot of good questions. Actually most accelerators are excluded from the list because they take equity. Algostars doesn't take equity, so I could add them. But most accelerators do take equity, so I can't add them.
Definitely the time it takes to apply and wait for government grants can be extremely long.
One area I'm interested in is the one I mention at the beginning - DAOs, because they can quickly provide funding for areas that interest the DAO. However, there aren't that many DAOs yet, so there wouldn't be a lot of content for a list.

One thing I noticed, you include Google Ad Grants. These are only available to registered nonprofit organizations, not makers or companies.
