Arlan started a thread of tech millionaire and billionaire men who have blocked her cause she's extremely threatening

Not sure who that is. Maybe she's just annoying? I see several posts on her page tagging paulg, seems a bit like harassment.

      Came here to say this.

I don't get it, what's extremely threatening about her?

It's a reference to what Arlan said ironically in her tweet "I’ll start a thread of tech millionaire and billionaire men who have blocked me cause I’m extremely threatening🙃 "

For people not familiar with Arlan or not getting the joke, she is a peach. She's so nice. But she's also a Black woman in tech with opinions different from theirs and has no problem speaking to the problems in the industry. People with fragile egos may find that "threatening."

Here's my personal opinion on situations like this in general, not her specifically.

The MO seems to be, you start out with some shaky, non-falsifiable premise: " The world is rigged against me because I am X. Everyone who's Y or even just not X has some poorly-defined, abstract, magic fairy dust that makes their lives a breeze and therefore they're bad, unredeemable people. Disagreeing with that is proof of having that fairy dust and makes you bad + dangerous."

Then you go around and basically flout common social norms. One of two things will happen: people will call you out when you're being a jerk, in which case, because you're the victim and your premise is non-falsifiable, you "win" with the people that already agreed with the premise.

Or, which is what most people will do, they'll simply avoid you. In which case, you cry wolf, and claim that this is further proof of your premise.

This all seems to me like circulus in probando.

I noticed the a while back Marc Andresseen blocked me and I was shocked. I've never tweeted at him or even vaguely referred to him. But hey if it puts me on the same list as Arlan Hamilton, I'll take it!

who have blocked her cause she's extremely threatening

Why are you so sure about the reason of blocking?

  7. 3

Hmm, I've never blocked nor been blocked by anyone on Twitter. Must be doing Twitter wrong. 🤔

    1. 1

What did you do to get blocked? I'm wondering what it takes!

      1. 1

He said something ableist and gross, and I said it was ableist and gross.

This sort of thing makes me want to avoid Twitter. I'm not taking sides here, I simply don't like the confrontation.

So I'm building https://twitmate.com so I don't have to touch Twitter and it's all done for me. Anyone else feel this way?

She just annoying and proud with it. If many people block her, then I can say she is the problem.

I too can annoy people with big egos and get blocked and share that as a sort of accomplishment.
