After scouring Google, I'm finding lots of articles that explain the very basics, and while they're great resources, I wonder if anyone else has found some gems out there to understand the tech behind blockchain / crypto.
The question truly is: Where can I learn in-depth about the fundamental technology that enables crypto to work?
Toss me (or anyone else who's interested) some blogs, podcasts, threads, videos, or anything else that's helped you understand how blockchain and crypto work!
If you're just getting started, I'd focus on understanding the fundamentals before following market trends. Learn how blockchain works, consensus mechanisms, wallets, public/private keys, smart contracts, Layer 2 scaling, and blockchain security. Once those concepts are clear, the rest of the ecosystem becomes much easier to understand.

It was helpful to me.
I would recommend looking at Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). It's a distributed ledger system that does not use blockchain. https://blog.iota.org/coordinator-part-2-iota-is-a-dag-not-a-blockchain-2df8ec85200f/
My personal opinion is that it is better of the two distributed ledger systems. More scalable and environmentally friendly.
ALl the best!
Princeton has a free course and book on how BitCoin works. The lectures are VERY useful. I highly recommend checking them out.

Crypto school is pretty good. A lot of info organized in one place. https://a16z.com/crypto-startup-school/
I am writing one report a week on fundamental topics of crypto. Happy to send them to you.
For example tomorrow https://standardmeta.com/report/dao will be ready
Depends on what you want to do, at this point most people are building on things like LND, BitcoinD and other such things. (Please don't make a shitcoin and actually try and provide value to the space)
Haha definitely don't want to make a shitcoin. I'm honestly just curious about the tech. I might also put some money into crypto, and understanding the tech will help me differentiate between the coins
Oh, basically everything is a scam but bitcoin due to its the first and only one that actually solves a problem. Currency is basically a monetary network effect and you want to be on the network that everyone else is or your currency is worthless. The rest are clones/shitcoins. Etherium you could make the case for its use but it's still early stage and seems to be hitting pretty bad scaling issues. Bitcoin is here to stay, Etherium has a pretty good chance at making it since it has a different use case(I don't hold any eth) but its higher risk.
Ohhh got it. That's some super helpful insight. Cool. Excited to do some more reading on it!
You can go download the bitcoin client and run your own testnet node to play around with it and read the code to learn.
