As an indie working on a side project, what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with?

I personally think that side project is always a benefit for a developer, as it helps to progress professionally and an opportunity to learn new technologies. However, we do it for different reasons, either we enjoy building, or we are dreaming about creating a product that would give financial freedom.

What would you say your two biggest issues are?

For example,

  1. Getting more work done
  2. Keeping motivation and focus on the side project
  3. Strategy to ship your product
  4. Find an investment

I'm 3/4 done with my project and my biggest issue is doubt that anyone else will use it.

Doing my best to power through it though and finish strong - it won't have a chance if I don't try.

        Solid advice.

I'll use it regardless of commercial success and I've learned a ton from it already. That's gotta be a win.

My main side project is "done" and is ready for people to use. My problem now is stabilization, fixing minor issues and trying to get people to know about it.
The biggest issue with it, is that I tend to find a lot of people have side projects that are mobile based or web based and they seem to be picked up. Where as I'm Windows desktop based and so is the app. Which is why I am now trying to get motivated to find a way to port it easily to either web or mobile or both.
