As Bootstrapper, Solo Founder, Do You Advertise Your Product?

I hope to hear your strategies when it comes to advertising your product as a solo founder, bootstrapper, etc.

Yeah, I know that some founders start by building the audience and then develop a product. And a common strategy is to launch at Product Hunt, or start with a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo.

But what about after that...?

Do you advertise?

Where? How?

Twitter? Facebook? Google Search / Network? Instagram? Snapchat? Native ads? Push?

Video? Banner?

Do you advertise for new leads?

Do you advertise for retargeting?

How much to spend?

I hope to hear your stories and strategies when it comes to this. Any wisdom you can share is a plenty, for me, and also perhaps for others.

@kidino, I found this question quite interesting and perfect to answer, mainly because I am in this very stage right now.

For my product, ruttl.com, I have established a proper social media marketing strategy in order to create brand awareness. My target audience is anyone in the design community. As a result, I have been advertising a lot on platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram.

Apart from that, I have also started running Email Campaigns to increase the engagement and push towards creating a tightly nit community.

As for paid advertising, I am still waiting to officially launch the product. Currently I am running beta testing and giving out early access to interested users only. Once the product is fully optimized (very soon!), I have decided to opt for Google Ads and LinkedIn ads for advertising ruttl.

    Hope this helps you!
    Cheers!
