Aside from finding a job, what are the pain points of freelancing and/or freelancing software?

I'm looking to get a sense of what kind of software is out there on the market to facilitate freelancing (time keeping, client/project management, etc.) and if there are needs not being met by said software as well as the pain points of the software. I was going to ask on Reddit but they have a policy of not posting content like that in the r/freelance subreddit.
