Ask: Feedback on Labbox (startup)

Hi all,

As a technical engineer, I always wanted to provide opportunities for my kids to explore engineering. That desire led me to start building Labbox - a gamified subscription-based business that aims to inspire kids for engineering.

We have built a kid-appropriate library of electronics - and are offering learning plans to help parents engage their kids with engineering.
The products challenge kids to learn electrical and mechanical engineering - and for more advanced users also programming.

We just recently released our landing page: labbox.education - and I would highly appreciate your thoughts on the services, business model, and if you as a parent would find our offering appealing.

We also have a special 20% discount for the first 100 subscribers, so if any of you decide to give Labbox a try (code: IndieHackers)
Our credit card payment isn't available yet - so please choose any of the other payment options so we receive the order - After that, you will be contacted by our team.

For some reason I see little products that target parents here on IH. I think this definitely has potential.

The only thing I would change is move "Do you know that by 2030, 700 million jobs will be lost to robotics?" higher, because it may offer parents yet another reason to buy your material.

Hi @arta_labbox! New parent over here in the community (also mom to a 1yo baby boy).

Here to give you some feedback and help if I can.

I like your idea, I'm always fascinated by a vision addressing kids. Thanks for doing this for all of us, and for our kids.

I'll list my feedback down below:

-There's a typo ENiNEERiNG, unless it's a new word attached to your branding. 😇
-I like the video a lot, it looks professional.
-Maybe you can simplify the site a bit? Now I get confused to see separate products and a subscription? Maybe you can only focus on the subscription and make it into a really, really strong offering that's hard to say no to?
-I find the price point a bit high for the current offering. Perhaps because me and my husband are both engineers, I felt like we can source some of the ingredients and still have similar fun. That being said, I am quite sure that your offering is very well engineered and lots of time and effort has been poured down in it. And it's a lot more than just DIY. Just wanted to tell you my gut feeling about the pricing.
-Business model seems to be right. Maybe you can offer more for the same price point? Like, stuff we cannot find elsewhere, an intellectual property such as an app (you might already be offering it, I might have missed it), stories, challenges, content platform? You might get people more hyped up if you sharpen your value proposition. Then the price won't be perceived as high.

These are my thoughts. Feel free to write back. Cheers, Basak (founder, https://apparent.today )

    Looks awesome.
I assume your familiar with kiwico https://www.kiwico.com/
Our kids currently get that every month and they love it!
Yours look spot on as well.
Just an FYI, grandparents are also your market. My parents are the ones who pay for our subscription.
    Good luck!
