Ask IH: Advice on Working with and Recruiting Remote Co-founders

I'm based in Waterloo, Canada. My co-founder is currently living in Seattle.
We're trying to expand our team.
Should I try my best to add someone who is close to one of us?
Entrepreneurs that were successful in working with remote co-founders early stage, what did you do?
What were some of the challenges associated with having remote co-founders, and how did you overcome them?

I co-founded several startups (projects) and companies with people on another part of the World and I didn't meet them in person.
One of those business (selling Wordpress themes) are generating $150k / year (and last three years is like that) ... With same biz partner (I met him at Reddit where I messaged him) I made few more projects and all of them are more or less successful. I don't want to list them here (because maybe it will be considered as some ads) but ping me on email if you are interesting to see what projects.
I don't have ONLY ONE remote co-founder. Actually I have few of them :)
They are living in USA and I'm living in Serbia (Europe). And I NEVER met them in person! Just Skype!

Most of the crypto teams doing ICOs are remote and it seems to be working. Just about aligning the right incentives, workload and characters.
I have worked with remote cofounders in my previous gigs and have been moderately successful in the endeavor. It’s all about making sure you are aligned and programmed towards a common goal.
Task setting, goal setting, managing weekly discussions and making sure all decision making is based on non-impeachable data.
I am interested in what you are doing and would like be to have a conversation to see if we can collaborate. I am located near New York.
What skill sets are you interested in?
why would you want to rebalance your investments if ICOs/coins that are essentially startups?
why would an investor sell his Apple and Facebook stocks to get more Myspace and Nokia
If you’re already remote and it’s working well, then I don’t see any reason to limit yourself to certain locations - why not keep it fully remote?
Also, if you happen to be looking for a designer/front-end dev I’d love to hear more - Hodlbot looks awesome!
