Ask IH: Are you looking for an alternative for sourcing custom products?

Over the past year I've been trying to build a platform to source custom products more efficiently and effectively compared to modern solutions. I've had my ups and downs for trying to stay motivated, so I was hoping if I could get some feedback from people to inspire me again.

IDEA:

I've looked into creating a custom clothing brand in the past, but it seemed very tiresome. I will use Alibaba as an example.

I want to build a new type of sweater. I take a look at all the sellers on Alibaba selling their sweater designs. I have to message them all and ask if they do custom orders. Wait for responses over the next few days/weeks, and then send a reply asking if they can create a specific sweater I want, and if they do samples. Again, I have to wait for responses and then send a wire transfer.

What if this process could be simplified?

What if I could create one single prototype with all the information about my product? Materials, size, colors, etc. Submit it for an RFQ to all available suppliers on the platform, and receive responses of quotes, sample prices, etc. You can click one button to order a sample, or another button to complete the order.

The platform would allow you to manage your prototypes through an API, think re-ordering when stock is low. You could select the origin of your suppliers.

Do you think there would be a market for a platform like this? All feedback is appreciated.
