Ask IH: Can I have your feedback on the navbar shadow ?
So, I am playing around with the shadows on colorsandfonts.com.
I would love to get some feedbacks about the shadows on the navbar.
Then I have some box shadows on the aside.
Before I had no shadows and the navbar disappeared in scroll.
What do you guys think?

if you put a slightly slightly gray tone on the body background-color, the nav and sidebars pop out a lot better (I just went in with chrome and added a background-color:#f9f9f9 to the body tag).

That was a good idea actually. I am using Bulma.io on this project and if I have to change that...
... it would take me long changing classes.

You can experiment with a more subtle shadow (~ 4 or 5 pixels) to make it look more crisp. A vertical offset in the shadow of the panels can help give it some extra "depth".

I used this but IMHO i am not convinced 100%
I would probably make the shadow less wide (and then increase the alpha a bit to compensate). I am not a designer at all, but in my experience you want to either use thin/crisp (but relatively strong) shadows to act as a kind of border, OR use very wide/blurry shadows on content that already has good contract with its background and which you want to stand out more.

imo the navbar shadow should be a little dark and the blur should be little less wide as it is floating above the rest, box shadows on the sides are fine.
It looks a bit out of place right?

I changed a bit maybe looks better?

but also check the dark mode, in dark mode the navbar and the background have same color which makes it not distinguishable. maybe just a little contrast between the two will make it better
