I don't have any good insights here, but I do have a minor tip. Some of my best response rates with cold emailing were in response to cold emails! In other words, someone cold emails me trying to sell something. And, if relevant, I respond to their cold email with a message trying to sell them on something. Even if it's not a perfect fit, it's often a way to get good feedback. And it's a way for your "cold response" to be slightly warmer than a true cold email. Obviously, not a really scalable technique. But still an option when the opportunity presents itself.
