If an 8-year-old doesn't understand what the product does, the description is too complicated. Once you simplify, change specific vocabulary to reflect your target audience.

Forget SEO; forget search term matching; forget keyword stuffing. Just write for human beings and make real connections with your readers - typos and all.

We actually write product descriptions for our customers at Everscript but my suggestion to you would be to focus on always describing the value your product brings to the customer instead of listing things like features and specs.
