Ask IH: Is there an indie hackers or YC/HN geared towards physical goods?

There are a few FB groups who are initiated for the Amazon FBA "model"... but in the end all of them are sourcing products, doing whitelabels, creating a brand, etc.

So you could find some fellows there too, as FBA is Just one channel of many. I am there are also Shopify groups on the same topic.

There are some of us out there. My wife is currently doing some research on cosmetics while I'm trying to work with the factories that make the best tools to sell on my site to complement the content. Both very low tech but have their own complexities: minimum order quantities, ownership of IP (if thats a thing), tooling costs, shipping costs, tariffs (if applicable).

My direct experience is with shipping complex consumer products (batteries, circuit boards, plastic, apps, complicated retail boxes, safety and FCC compliance). Buying something off the shelf is definitely more appealing to me after writing that sentence and every time I think back to the "fun" times I had bringing those products to market.

Btw, building your own product from scratch is even more complex as now you're likely hiring someone to do the R&D before brining it to a manufacturer for production. Depending on the complexity and volume you may be able to pull it off yourself. I know a few successful companies that assemble their own products in house right here in the USA.

I would just start posting and asking about it on IndieHackers. You will find others who are doing the same thing.
