Hey Michael. I use these types of sites often. You have a lot of competition. I usually use the ones that rank highest on google for the keywords "background gradient". Here are my comments:

You know actually the gradients page has me going nuts.
I' will explain, the reason they look like that is that from my point of view people can see the gradient on big surface.
But searching around, testing how it looks it left me thinking twice if I should have them smaller or bigger.
I had rounded circles before, like the first steps of c&f but it looked so tacky.
Regarding the fonts, yes they are definitely google fonts but in my site goes quicker to copy paste the code.
Even like this I know for sure there's no way I can compete with Google fonts.
There's a lot competition, I know but there's should be a place for me also.
Look at colorlovers.com that site has lots of resources but the UX is terrible with all the adverts and everything going on....

I'm from Helsinki originally, that's why I know Γ land. I live in the US now though. There are a few other members from Finland here on IH. It is always nice to meet more.
